Hi. I’m Shane. For several years now I’ve been on a journey of rediscovery. While many are deconstructing and falling away from the LORD, I have deconstructed and grown closer. Perhaps what I’m calling deconstruction isn’t the same thing as what Jen Hatmaker or Joshua Harris did, but nevertheless, I have examined my faith and the faith traditions I grew up with a piece at a time. So, here’s where I’m at.

I just want to read my Bible, pray, and expect that what I read about still happens today. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, so if the Bible says we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, then that is my expectation.

This website, for as long as it lasts, will be about the pursuit of authentic, biblical Christianity. I care not about denominations and church traditions that go beyond what is written. I’m only interested in belief that is rooted in what we read in Scripture. My hope is that Renewed Belief will become a source of biblical encouragement and instruction for your journey, both from me and from other like-minded believers.

I know… and so do many others who have blogs like this. I guess I’m joining that chorus of believers who long for the LORD to renew His people with a fresh wind of revival. I’m a Jesus-loving, Spirit-filled, Charismatic, Reformed-ish, Word-reading, Spirit-following dude who serves as a worship pastor in a Southern Baptist church that feels non-denominational.

I’m an oddball. But I’m an oddball who loves Jesus. Be odd with me. Besides, I think that’s what God’s Word tells us to be.
